Situated in the heart of Alba on Via Vittorio Emanuele, Il Gourmet della Maddalena is a culinary gem that captures the essence of Piedmontese cuisine with a special emphasis on truffles—the region’s most coveted delicacy. This intimate restaurant enchants guests with its charming ambiance and carefully curated menu that showcases the richness and depth of local flavors.
Specializing in expertly crafted pasta dishes, Il Gourmet della Maddalena’s star offerings include their celebrated truffle pasta and the exquisite white truffle tajarin. Each bite bursts with the earthy aroma and luxurious silkiness that only fresh truffles can provide. Diners frequently praise the delicate balance of flavors, where handmade pasta is perfectly complemented by generous ribbons of butter or subtle truffle-infused sauces. The small plates, perfect for sharing, are equally enticing, providing a tasting journey through artisanal cheeses, savory meats, and thoughtfully paired wines from the area.
The atmosphere here feels authentically Italian—warm, welcoming, and a little rustic, creating an inviting setting for both leisurely lunches and intimate evening meals. Guests often note how the space offers a wonderful refuge from the bustling streets outside, especially on rainy days when the cozy interior invites relaxation and lingering conversation over food and wine. The attentive service, while occasionally noted as quietly professional, ensures your experience remains smooth and genuine, with staff eager to guide you through the impressive truffle selections and local specialties.
Customer reviews reflect a genuine appreciation for this tucked-away treasure. Nicolas Dula raved about the truffle pasta and the inviting atmosphere, while Mena E highlighted the rare authenticity of the restaurant amidst Alba’s often tourist-centric options. Anna Liflyand praised both the extensive truffle product selection and the professionalism of the service—qualities echoed by Youssef Kubis, who called it one of the cutest and most impressive dining spots in Italy. For visitors seeking a late afternoon bite, Rob Elder’s recommendation of the local cheese and meat board paired with fine regional wines promises a delightful experience.
While Il Gourmet della Maddalena leans toward the pricier end of the spectrum, as Stella Karkali observed, its use of premium ingredients and the unparalleled focus on truffles make it a worthy indulgence. Thomas Rehrmann’s enthusiastic endorsement of the handmade pasta and flawless execution of dishes speaks to the passion behind every plate served.
For anyone traveling through Alba, ready to savor the true taste of Piedmont, Il Gourmet della Maddalena stands as a heartfelt invitation to enjoy the region’s culinary treasures with authenticity and flair. It’s more than just a meal—it’s an unforgettable journey through aroma, texture, and tradition that lingers long after the last forkful.

I loved it. The small plates and the truffle pasta were excellent. The atmosphere was just great. The waiter, however, seemed a bit unmotivated

It is so difficult to find authentic eateries/shops in places like Alba because the are either tourist traps or whitewashed, impersonal places. Well--- this little gem is everything but. I happened to stumble upon this place as I was wandering around Alba. I decided to sit down and ask for a cheese platter. From the moment I was greeted, I felt right in the right place. Patrizia put together a fantastic cheese plate for me and also gave me a white wine recommendation that became my absolute favourite white wine I have ever had. I also ended up spending like 100€ in the beautiful and quality products they sell. During my selection, Patrizia guided me and suggested fantastic items. In short: If you are looking for real, authentic and quality food don't hesitate coming here. They will take care of you and hey, if you break the bank buying stuff from here, you won't regret it. Grazie mille, Patrizia!!!!

A very small, charming place with a large selection of truffles and truffle products. They have a good truffle menu; we had the white truffle tajarim. The service was excellent and professional.

I have to be honest, we sat there because it was 3 in the midday and all the budget restaurants had closed and would open after three hours. However it wasn't nas expensive as we thought. There are options in the menu, and ofcourse the quality of the food was top. The atmosphere authentic,we selected a table inside because the weather was rainy, but it was proven better eventually because of the smells and the feeling.I would go again!

Lovely experience for a late afternoon snack and a glass of wine. Staff was very helpful, the board for two had a great selection of local cheeses and meats, and the wines were fantastic. Will return!

We sat here mostly because everything else was closed and were actually surprised by the quality and flavor of the food. I would suggest coming here to try their selection of meets, cheese and wine, but we got full plates and weren't at all disappointed. The pasta and the wine were great. It is on the pricier side so keep that in mind. They also have truffles and other related products to buy.
